The Latest and Greatest!

A lot has been happening in the Rey household the past few weeks. Most of it little events that as parents are a BIG deal. Here is what we have been up to lately:

Turner has started to potty train! We tried several months ago but he wasn't very interested. He is really into Bob the Builder so I made him a potty chart with Bob the Builder characters and Bob's motto: "Can you do it, Yes you can!" The idea of putting stickers on his Bob the Builder chart made getting on the potty "so much fun" (part of Bob's theme song for those of you out of the know). We told Turner that when his chart was full we would take him on the train in Breckenridge Park. So. . . .

He filled up his chart in 6 days and we took the train ride! Go Turner!!!

Here is Lucia in her "glam" sunglasses. She actually kept them on the entire train ride! Check out the video at the end of the post of Lucia loving on her big brother.

Lucia has started to use a spoon. This was the second time we have handed over the spoon and let her have a go at it. She did a pretty good job, check out the video below.

Here is Lucia and her new baby doll. She has been loving on it by hugging and kissing it. This is her first doll that has a plastic head and hands, she has been pointing and touching the dolls lips, nose and eyes. It is very sweet to watch her be careful with her little baby.

Lucia is finally heavy enough and old enough to switch her around from a rear facing position in her car seat to a forward facing position. It is so nice when you can see what is happening for both us and her! Oh, she was also holding her snack cup for the first time and didn't spill. . .she is getting to be a big girl.

When we were in Galveston we went to a train museum having forgotten that we have a Texas Transportation Museum right here in San Antonio. The museum has an actual train that runs several times each day It goes 1/3 mile in one direction and then back to the depot in reverse. Turner was so excited to hear the whistle of the train, the engine running, feel the sway of the train and the vibration of the tracks beneath his seat. Turner helped the conductor prepare by giving him the "all ready" wave of the arm and we were off! We road twice of course!

All of the family on the caboose.

All of the sounds of the train might be cool for Turner but Lucia was less than thrilled with the loud whistles and the jerk of the train. She warmed up to it after a moment.

We have decided to get a cat. His name is Fennel and he will be an outdoor kitty. He was dropped off by someone who found him in pretty bad shape at my sister's vet clinic. She said that the kitty would be euthanized or just left outside if no one adopted him by a certain date. After seeing how playful and sweet he was we decided to go ahead and take him. I have always grown up with a myriad of animals around so we thought it was time to start our own little menagerie. Turner has been loving his new companion. Now we just need a dog and a bunny!

A couple of weekends ago Michael and Turner helped to celebrate Nonno's birthday by playing golf. Turner was so thrilled to play with them both. Michael said he did a great job being quiet when asked and was hitting his ball at almost every hole.

Proud Daddy and Turner.

Nonno with Turner.

This is video of Turner learning for the first time how to hit a ball with his bat without using a T-ball stand. Check out the video! Hey Uncle Keith and Auntie Grace, maybe Turner can come play on your team!
