Happy Halloween

Here is Lucia as a "candy corn". This was my first attempt at making a costume. . .it was from a pattern called "Sewing for Dummies" so I thought I would give it a go.

The hat was a little tricky but somehow it worked!

Turner had to be Bob the Builder or rather "Turner the Builder". He still doesn't quite understand what Halloween is about but once we started trick or treating it was hard to get him to stop.

Lucia loved the whole concept of dressing up and carrying her pumpkin. She would not stop smiling and did not once tug at her hat or costume even though it was felt and probably 85 degrees outside. She was a real trooper.

Here they are checking out the loot.

Lucia inspecting her take.

Check out Lucia standing on her own!!!

Our neighborhood doesn't really have trick or treating. What they do instead is offer a hay ride. You start at the park and go to 10 different stops in the neighborhood where there are tricks and treats offered. At each stop you receive candy but at some you get hot dogs, drinks, cookies and a bit of a scare. This one house created a corn field in their front yard complete with real life scarecrows that were amazingly creepy. They did a great job for Halloween night but it is definitely not something for the really young! Luckily our little ones didn't even know that it was supposed to be scary.
